This is a tour for Madrid
In Madrid few people speak English, you’ll need practice
Spanish… J.
First, when you arrive at Barajas airport, you will need a
city map.
You can looking for a “tourist information point”. You can
ask it in the airport. You must ask for a map of Madrid, I recommend “Corte
Ingles” map and you need too a metro map.
You can ask the guide in “tourist information point” about
the important things in Madrid.
Leaving the airport to Madrid center
You can to take the “Metro” it’s a train. I don’t know what
terminal you'll arrive, but the line metro is the same when you go to Madrid
center.
You must take a pink line (8) to “Nuevos Ministerios” and
there, you have the lines gray(6) and blue(10) to Madrid Center, but I don’t
know where your hotel is.
You can buy a ticket for each for all day, depend your plan.
Walk tour
I have prepared a walk tour, only one circuit, but is long.
You can to do it more long, depend your energy and you
curious.
You can follow the next point:
Points
1: Atocha: You start here. There
are here a tropical garden inside, This is one of the most important stations
in Madrid, you can take all the trains to all the places outside of Madrid.
2: Vertical garden, is of Caixa
Bank, you can see from street, you can to do a stop soon and see it.
3. Botanic garden: You need time
to see it, but this is interesting too. This is not free.
4. Museum Prado: The most famous
museum in Spain and Europe.
5. Plaza Neptuno: Here the
“Atletico de Madrid” team celebrate their wins.
6. Plaza de Cibeles: This is an
important monument of Madrid, you can see the postal office building next to.
7. This is “Paseo la Castellana”
where modern Madrid is start. This is a large avenue.
There are others
numbers, for example:
The number 1.
This is Alcala door, you have to see it.
The number 2. “Parque
el Retiro”: Very beautiful and big park, this park was the family real before.
Is you entre inside, you can looking for number 3, this is a “Palacio de
Cristal”, and there is a lake in front of.
8. “Banco de España” you can see
the building architec.
9. You can see the building in the corner, this
is a typical architecture in Madrid.
10. This is the epicenter of
Madrid, you can see the kilometer cero in front of "Ayuntamiento de
Madrid".
You can see the "Oso y el
Madroño" a monument. You can see that there are a lot of people waiting there,
because this is a meeting point for everybody.
11. Major Square: “Plaza Mayor”
This is the most important square in Madrid, you can walk for all the square
and see the pictures and sometimes the expositions, you can try the “bocadillo
de calamares” very famous in this place and delicious.
12. San Miguel Market, “Mercado
de San Miguel”: once was only market, but now you can try "tapas"
with wine and buy others things, you have to see it.
13: Opera: You can walk round it
and to see the streets to everywhere, I love it.
14: Real Palace: You can to go
inside, this is not free, but maybe you like it.
15. Spain Square: “Plaza España”:
This is a square very important in Madrid and very famous.
16. You can start walk through
the "Gran Via" avenue and to see the architecture of the buildings,
this is a store areas too, but you don't see only the showcases, please, you
have see the building and look up as well.
17. The last stop is in “Callao”
square: You looking for "Corte Ingles" of Callao, you have to go
inside, this is a big store, but you looking for the cafeteria, it's in the
last floor in this building. From there, you can enjoy great views and relax.

You can take a tourist bus, there are two routes, modern and old Madrid. This is a good option to rest and visit all the city.

This is a recommendation of my friends in Madrid
If you like the Art, you can visit

Museum: Prado, Thyssen, Reina Sofia, Academia de
Bellas Artes de San Bernando.

A good visit by Spanish and foreign is “Circulo
de Bellas Artes) the address is (Calle Alcalá 42), sometimes there is an
exposition, but you have got to climb to the roof of the building and see the
view of whole Madrid, there there is a cafeteria.
For drink and eat, is fundamental that you walk through the
"Madrid de los Asturias" and drink or for example is you like the
"Bacalao", in Casa Revuelta (Calle Latoneros 3, Puerta Cerrada) or
other kind of "tapas" in other places of "Calle Cava Baja".
If you like the music, according to the dates you stay in
Madrid, you can to go to any concert of "Flamenco" in the days 17, 18
and 19 January.
If you like the Jazz, It would be a good plan dinner o drink
at night in "Cafe Central" (Plaza del Angel 10).
